Getting Your Home Ready to List

Feb 24, 2022 | List Your Home

Before you list:

  1. Find a reputable agent that you know, like and trust. Do research, read reviews and ask around. Word of mouth is the best way to find an agent that is honest and trustworthy and has your best interest at heart.
  2. Get a Market Analysis from your agent to see what your home is worth.
  3. You and your agent determine a price strategy that meets your needs.
  4. Go through and de-clutter your home. Donate, sell, or throw away anything that you no longer need. Make sure it looks neat and tidy.
  5. Deep clean to prepare for listing photos and future showings.
  6. Finish any DIY projects or repairs.
  7. Pack away/secure family or personal photos, personal collections, cash and jewelry.
  8. Touch up any chipped or peeling paint outside and clean up the yard.
  9. Try to make sure that people looking at your home can see that it has been well taken care of and can envision their items in the home.
  10. Be sure the home smells nice for showings.
  11. Open all the blinds and turn on all lights for showings.
  12. Take your pets with you when you leave for showings.
  13. Be sure to disclose any defects that are known to you as the home owner.
  14. Be realistic in your expectations.
